Happy tenth anniversary, Warlords.
Well all this news about Psychonauts 2 is rather exciting isn't it? Makes you wonder if a particular Double Fine sequel could ever be made. Nah, I'm being crazy. But wait, what's this? At the bottom of the Pyschonauts 2 FAQ page?
Don't toy with my heart Double Fine. Buy Pyschonauts 2 guys.
You all know the drill at this stage, Brütal Legend's turned the ripe old age of 6, and to celebrate Tim Schafer himself will be joining the battleground to participate in this years metal massacre!
Happy birthday Brütal Legend! Even closer to 666!
Brütal Legend is one of the BEST games i've ever played. From the world, to the characters, to the history it has it all for every metalhead and gamer alike.
As you may recall from my last blog post, the Brütal Legend: Limited Edition is a thing. Now that I have one in my possession I can finally tell you all what's inside this magical box, and hopefully motivate you to pick it up yourself, because while originally available only to those subscribed to IndieBox, it's now available for anyone to purchase from right here for $25!
First of all we've got the box itself, which is a nice tribute to classic black albums such as Metallica's eponymous fifth album.
Then we've got the glorious contents of the box. You've got a sleek recreation of the vinyl record sleeve in Brütal Legend, containing both the game's install disc (AND a Steam key, so you basically get a second copy to send to a friend) and ori…
If you wanna check it and suggest more game modes tell me and I will edit
Hot damn, has it really been five years? It's crazy to imagine it's been that long since the gates of the Brütal Land were opened up to the general public and we all discovered the wonders that lay within. How about you relive those cherished memories and join those celebrating the 5th Annual Roctober 13th by playing online?
Rocktober 13th is the event that happens only once every year where warlords from all different lands, be they hailing from the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, or the newer clan of the PC, assemble across the servers all day to duke it out in Brütal Battle all in the name of celebrating the glory of metal, and the hidden gem that is Brütal Legend. (Unfortunately, Tim can't play since he's on the road to LA to do some voice wor…
Since I don´t remember how the other ones went I will tell you just this, this was the only battle I did after Victor!
Map was The Bleeding Coast
I went against wallpapper7 he was Ironheade, I was Tainted Coil (of course!), started by producing a War Nun, then made some PPs and SKs and sent my units to go to the neutral geyser at the middle. I scouted the enemy and discovered they also went there! So my units start atacking theirs and I use the PP double team (my favorite), the enemy avatar starts harassing me so I target him and after he dies or retreats I start killing all of his units, and claim the geyser for myself! I start producing more units to replenish my ranks and advanced even more, I upgrade my stage with all of the fans (I mad…
They do, brutal legend fans are waiting, waiting to bash a bigger enemy than Doviculus. They NEED it, and fast. The only thing we can do is wait, and "persuade" Double Fine to make a sequel. I know.. It took over $25 million to make, but truly. Jack, needs to be in the spotlight again. He just living off Kung fu Panda, and that's it! He does need action. Like returning to Brutal legend, and Saying F*** at people again.
Finally para. We need this DF games. We really need a sequel, and we need it fast.
I have considered writing a fanfic featuring the Tainted Coil after Eddie's victory at the end of Brutal Legend. If there's actually interest for this, please let me know. And feel free to suggest ideas if you actually do want this to happen.
One idea I've had is to make it lead into Rhapsody( of Fire)'s "Emerald Sword Saga" as a lot of ideas overlap. Special notes would be the Kron dynasty as the last vestiges of the Tainted Coil (perhaps the fic would follow the first of the Kron rising up in the wake of Doviculus' death) and references to "the dead" indicating tear drinkers. I'd have to explain what's up with the elves and dwarves, though. But all that's just one direction I could take this.
As you are reading this, I want you to know you are nothing but a screen.
That I project my images of sorrow, pain, sex, and suffering upon,
Although there is no difference between the one and the three.
I'm doing a brutal legned quiz on double fine site and giving some games away on steam if you want to go and check it out. Just to let you know it ends tomorrow. Top prize is brutal legend for steam.
I just thought let you all now that you can now get this in the double fine store.
Here is the slip cover for the brutal legend art book that they are going to be selling on there store web site. It looks so epic.
Pissing about on Steam today I came across This, showing that Brütal Legend along with other Double Fine games such as Psychonauts had recently been added to Valve's Trading Card Beta (which is exiting beta tomorrow). There are 15 cards in total, which, when collected, grant the collector a badge for their profile, as well as the ability to craft these cards into a profile background.
For those who haven't participated in the beta, the way it works is that you get cards randomly by playing the game. You can get a maximum of n/2 cards this way where n is the total number of cards, if n is even then the number of droppable cards is rounded down. After this, you need to either trade with other people for the cards or wait untill you get a boost…
I fianlly was able to remake my drownd Ophelia music video. I left some of the old parts in it beacuse it just didn't feel right taking them out. All in all, I think it turn out well.
Finally after hours of summoning an oponent solo I got a match, the oponent used the Drowning Doom I used the Tainted Coil, we started I summoned a nun then harassed the other player but he had no units after some minutes I noticed him summoning gravediggers, bride, and later a frightwig.
So after the harrasment I upgraded my stage and made a Warfather, as soon as I made him I started making him summon some units first a superior nun then, a skull raker and all the proceding units in his possession, I then made the divine nun make a lot of soul kissers and punishing partys. I then went to harass one last time before the massive onslaught wich would soon follow, and he had alot of gravediggers, a bride and a frightwig, Then I had to rally th…
So here I was getting the nerve to play matchmaking, and wend I did play it It took at least 10 minutes to find someone wich happened to have no fights either like me (at least on matchmaking) and then it disconected.
At this very moment im in matchmaking waiting for the one to be my first.
I recently submited some art for the Brutal legend deviant art club, its for making your own brutal legend creature. The one I sumeted is the boom snake, and the other are awsome too. Plus they have a lot of great fan art too. So check it out and have a brutal day.
Here are a few music videos I made a while back, I hope to do more soon.
The first one is my drownig doom video and was my first video I made.
The next one is a trubet to the game.
The last one is my tainted coil video and is my news video.
Both the fotage and music of the videos belong to there reseptive owners.
OK, before you judge my graphics, I am using Steam for my pictures, then messing with them with GIMP. So what do yu think of this picture I made for Drowned Ophelia?
I am too proud.
And now the Tainted Emperor.
The PC version of Brütal Legend is out, and Steam is buzzing with cool screenshots. Here's some cool ones I've found.
Ok, I won't speak for everyone here, but to me, the most difficult mission is not Sea of Black Tears or Abomination Overdrive. It's Dry Ice, Wet Graves. I need some help here, and Ophelia's army seems supremely overpowered with that bride of hers. gods... little help from the other Brutal Warlords?
The PC version of Brütal Legend releases today, and the multiplayer beta has been going on for some time now. Here are some screenshots taken from Steam.
That there intriguing title is from a new interesting article from Rock Paper Shotgun, which you can check out here!
(Don't know about you guys but I'm positively giddy with all the new found BL interest with the PC version's release.)
For those of us too
lazy busy to read the article, the
main gist is: Buy the PC version, goodie's will follow. Mainly
it'll help some cool new things to be added to multiplayer,
buuuut could also slightly help the idea of a sequel. So
In other news, the TF2 items were released, alongside this awesome promo picture:
As shown, the items released were the "Brütal Bouffant", which is an all classes headgear item. More info this way.
And a taunt know as "Shred Alert", which is a guitar solo with a fancy lig…
Our speculations were correct folks, Brütal Legend is now coming to PC and we have an awesome new trailer to go alongside it. Check it out folks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssgajd2wZ6c
Some more info has also surfaced too, courtesy of Double Fine themselves. It's going to include all DLC content, plus it's newly upgraded for PC which means more detailed visuals and an improved performance. Buy it now on Steam over here and you get access to the multiplayer beta as well as exclusive Team Fortress 2 items*! *Item details and release date information will be available later today.
So, you guys excited? Are you folks going to pick it up?
Brütal Legend has recently appeared on the steam database, implying that it will be coming to steam some time soon, when asked on Double Fine forums, staff said they could not make any announcements regarrding the game and steam.
Ok, if you've ever played the Tainted Coil before, you know precisely how difficult they are to get a good army started. Granted, when it's going, it's going, but giving it a start is difficult due to various issues I've encountered in AI Multiplayer, as well as a few I've theorized for what to do in True Multiplayer. This is a simple list of methods I do/would do to deal with various Coil flaws. This may sound like I dn't like the Coil, and in all honestly, I really don't due to the damn Heirachy. I prefer to have lots of units straight away. but here are methods I do to deal with some of the bigger faults.

Hello fellow brütal Wikians! I wanted to write a quick post letting people know that The Art of Brütal Legend will be made available March 12, 2013. You can check it out here.
For those of you who don't know, this book was announced some time ago, but we've only recently been given a release date. The book will be in hardcover, and will likely flesh out the lore of Tim Schafer's metal-inspired world, showing us artwork and information from the developers themselves.
I'll probably be largely inactive untill december 10th since my Team is playing in the RRR6 TF2 Highlander tournament on December 9th so we need to get in as much practice as possible.
Just a heads up.
ok, this strategy has yet to be tested against actual players, as my connection is shit, but I've tested it against AI difficulties of Normal and above, so don't laugh it off. When I first start the battle, the first thing I do is put in orders for 2 Frightwigs, and then one load of Gravediggers for cover. I generally send these to take a Fan Geyser, and then make a similar grou for another Geyser. after the leech has been cleared, I'll take the Geyser with a Fan Tribute Guitar Solo, and move them to another geyser. I also plant a Rally Flag somewhere near the Midpoint of the map, and send new units, mainly Frightwigs, Brides, Organists, Diggers and Lightning Rods, to the flag. once I have that taken care of, I keep an eye on the units. if …
Just wanted to let you know that I saw Tenacious D live in the O2 in Dublin over the weekend, it was awesome, you should be super jelly, and the giant fenix ejaculated confetti onto the crowd. kthxbai
Hail fellow warlords! Today is the most Metal day of all: Rocktober 13! Three years ago today, Brütal Legend was released. In honour of this great day, fellow Metal Warriors around the world (except maybe North Korea or something) will be logging on for some skull-bashing, metal-thrashing, axe-slashing good time!
Also, another great achievement for the Most Metal Wiki on Wikia: we have been linked to from the Official Double Fine Website of Officiality. You can see the link to this page by clicking on this link, where you will find a link to take you back here, where the cycle then repeats. Forever.
Hail fellow warlords, Milkman here, with an update on our fine wiki. The most metal wiki in the world, Brütal Legend Wiki, has now been promoted! No, no, we're not getting a pay raise (I'm not getting paid anything!), but Wikians can see a promotion for our wiki on Wikia.com! If you have any suggestions about the promotion itself, let an administator know and they can look into changing it. Here's hoping someone sees it and checks out our wiki in all of its glory!
Not saying this is the best way to play, just my way.
There are generally 2 strategies for starting off as the Drowning Doom, sending out 2 gravediggers and a frightwig then a bride, or swarming the battlefield with gravediggers non-stop, the latter being what I did when I was new to the faction, generally. If you're not very good at defending your troops you may want to start off with this opening, however, bear in mind you may find it more difficult to bear with having the weaker units later on, as any anti-infantry unit will be devastating. If you open up with the former opening, bear in mind you'll probably have to defend your troops, and know that the bride (which is excluded from this method on some maps) is only summoned for taking o…
As the capitals might indicate, this is what a Brütal Legend sequel needs. Not needs as in "what I would really like to see (like more factions)". Needs as in needs.
- 1 Player-Proof
- 2 Jump
- 3 Scavenger Hunts
- 4 PC Gaming
Not just in Brütal Legend, but all sandbox games (I'm looking at you Skyrim). This needs to be a priority, having a player-proofed world should be a requirement, not a feature.
It's one thing when you're stuck in an area you can't get out of, in Brütal Legend you can just play Summon Deuce and voila, you're alright. In Skyrim you can just fast travel. It's different when you're on an apparently permanent slope... while not actually moving down. That requires a game reload, which is ridiculous.
Now yes, I know the lack of jump button i…
IGN's own Greg Miller has had the great fortune of being able to interview gaming's greatest, Tim Schafer. For more information and news regarding everything Tim Schafer, hit this link.
Our own Metal God Tim Schafer (@TimOfLegend) linked this article on his Twitter earlier today, I found it quite interesting.
Wikia has released an update to the forums functionality to make it more like the Message Wall. The Brütal Forum of metal and badassery has not been used here since the Age of the Titans, but if you'd like to give it a spin, let me know and I'll try to raise the relic to make it happen.
I think the forums are a good place for ongoing discussions among multiple people that might otherwise be stuck on a user's talk page and that don't merit a full blog post.
Sorry I've been all... disappearish lately.
Been looking for a job lately and when I'm not doing that I'm making tf2 frags, and when I'm not doing that I'm talking people out of doing very stupid things and ARGGGGGG.
Too much stress e.e
Anywho, i'll try to be active and stuffs again so...
No, silly, it's not the sequel to 300. This wiki now has 400 pages! With the creation of the Machine Gun page, our wiki is now 400 times bigger than it was when it was first created.
To honour this great and momentous occasion, I think we should all reflect on how awesome this wiki has come to be. Let us all raise our brütal beer bottles in celebration of the 400 great pages that have been created, and to another 400!
Ok, 800 might be Milking it a little, unless of course Double Fine Productions released a sequel....
Fuelled by my fanatical love for his work, I just wanted to post a blog simply saying “Happy birthday Tim Schafer!"
On this very day, some years ago, the great (and humble) Tim Schafer was born. Let’s take this day to appreciate all he’s done for gaming. Here’s to many more years of creativity and game development!
And yes. I did mark it on my calendar. Do not judge me.
Good news everyone! Double Fine has announced that they will soon be selling the art book for Brütal Legend. How soon you ask? In about four months. The book will be available in hardback and paperback, courtesy of Udon Entertainment. Expect to see it sometime in November or December. Till' then, keep on rocking with your copy of Brütal Legend!
Don't have Brütal Legend any more? Well, you're in luck! The fine folks at Double Fine Productions have marked the price of the game down to $10! That's quite a value indeed. Also marked down are copies of the game signed by the great Tim Schafer! For a mere $20, you can purchase a copy of the most metal game of all time, complete with a signature from the gaming god himself. What are you waiting for? G…
Ok, I'm going to be absent for some time. to be specific, till the 23rd of july starting, like, today. I wanted to get this nice little blog up to tell you guys this so you don't think one of the staff members decided to dissapear. I WILL be returning, I just have no predicted internet time. Heck, small Idea, consider this the Staff's Returning and Leaving blog, where the staff members will post any absences that they can see coming. this way, any nonstaff users can be able to keep track of who's here/who's not. May the Fire Beast protect you!
I've just realised that the pinboy has moobs
This is something that has bugged me about the Brütal Land for quite some time now. Ever notice the variety of sign posts scattered about the road? Not the road signs overhead that show where you are going, but the wordless ones. What do the wordless ones mean? Are they scattered about randomly? Or do they mean something? Am I paranoid, or is there a pattern? I don't remember reading anywhere about these random road signs, but they've made wonder what they all mean. Anyone got any answers or guesses? Feel free to point out my ignorance when necessary.
Coincidentally, I was also watching the movie Signs yesterday.
If you're anything like me, DD is a bitch to beat early game with IH. The gravedigger double team is rediculously powerfull, and you can only stall it for so long before your opponent gets one off. There are two important things you have to do in order to beat DD: Army compoition and denying double teams. If push comes to shove you can use the car and pretty much get an auto win, but don't be that guy.
I normally advocate for using mainly melee units in the early game, as they counter their ranged counterparts very well. Against DD however, you should have alot more razergirls. Razergirls add some much needed dps, and if you can keep your opponent's gravediggers concentrated on the headbangers (who serve as meatshields), then you should be …
I was scouring the Internet as I always do, and happened upon an interview with Scott Campbell, the art director for Psyconauts and Brütal Legend. Check the link below for an awesome interview, curtoesy of BitMob.com's own Jonathon Ore.
God, Double Fine Productions sounds like an extremely fun place to work.
